A Prophetic Word for Gallup, New Mexico and the Surrounding Region

By Dr. Phil Spears

There are moments when you look at a place and see only what is visible. You see the streets, businesses, homes, mountains, struggles, history, and people.

But then there are moments when you believe God allows you to see beyond what is and catch a glimpse of what could be coming.

And when I turned my attention toward Gallup, New Mexico, these words came strongly to me:

Gallup, New Mexico… something is coming.

I saw change moving across this region.

Not merely change in circumstances, but a stirring—a sense that things that have remained dormant are beginning to move again.

I saw what had been dry living again.

I saw what had been broken being restored.

And I saw something else:

THE STOPPED-UP WELL

In my spirit, I saw a well.

It represented salvation, restoration, healing, miracles, and the presence of God.

But this well appeared as though it had been stopped up.

The water was still there.

The source had not disappeared.

The promise had not died.

It simply needed to come forth again.

And those words kept rising within me:

“Coming forth. Coming forth.”

It reminded me of Isaac in Genesis 26.

The Philistines had stopped the wells that had been dug in the days of Abraham, but Isaac returned and dug the wells again.

There are some things that do not need to be invented.

They need to be reopened.

There are prayers that were prayed before us.

There were people who believed before us.

There were seeds planted by previous generations.

There were tears shed over this region.

And I believe Gallup may be entering a season when some old wells are going to be uncovered again.

THEN I SAW HEALING

As I continued to pray concerning this region, something arrested my attention.

I saw empty wheelchairs.

I saw crutches being left behind.

And I saw people walking away from hospitals rejoicing and declaring:

“God touched me.”

I do not believe the church should ever manufacture miracles, exaggerate testimonies, or promise outcomes that only God can determine.

But neither should we stop praying for the sick.

Jesus said:

“They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” — Mark 16:18

So I am praying for Gallup.

I am praying for the sick.

I am praying for families who have received reports that have frightened them.

I am praying for people who have almost surrendered their hope.

And I am praying that there will be undeniable testimonies of God's mercy throughout this region.

I SAW HOPE RETURNING TO FAMILIES

But this word was bigger than physical healing.

I saw hope returning to families.

There are wounds that medicine cannot heal.

Broken relationships.

Generational pain.

Addiction.

Disappointment.

Children separated from parents.

Parents praying for children.

People carrying private battles nobody else knows about.

And I believe one of the great needs of this hour is not simply another religious event.

People need hope.

They need to know that yesterday does not have to dictate tomorrow.

The broken can be restored.

The fallen can rise.

The addicted can become free.

The discouraged can believe again.

And families that thought their story was finished can discover that God can still write another chapter.

SOMETHING IS STIRRING IN THE REGION

What I sensed was not confined to a building.

It wasn't about one church.

It wasn't about one denomination.

And it certainly wasn't about one preacher.

I saw something broader.

Gallup and the surrounding region.

I believe there are people throughout this territory who have been praying quietly.

Some have wondered whether their prayers mattered.

Some have labored without recognition.

Some have preached when crowds were small.

Some have prayed when nobody applauded.

Some have remained faithful when it would have been easier to walk away.

Do not despise those years.

Seeds can remain beneath the ground long before anyone sees evidence of a harvest.

GOD HAS NOT FORGOTTEN THE HIDDEN ONES

I especially feel this for the people who have served God without recognition.

The pastors of small congregations.

The praying mothers and grandmothers.

The fathers trying to hold their families together.

The young people who know there must be something more.

The intercessors nobody knows.

The ministers who wondered whether their assignment mattered.

Heaven does not measure significance the way people measure significance.

Some of the greatest movements in history did not begin beneath television lights.

They began with hungry people.

They began with prayer.

They began with ordinary men and women who became convinced that God could do something extraordinary.

GALLUP, PREPARE FOR RESTORATION

I believe the word over this region is RESTORATION.

Restoration of hope.

Restoration of families.

Restoration of faith.

Restoration of purpose.

Restoration of people who thought they had gone too far.

And restoration of wells that previous generations once drank from.

Isaiah 43:19 declares:

“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?”

Sometimes the first evidence of change is not what you can see.

It is what begins stirring beneath the surface.

MY PRAYER FOR GALLUP

Father, remember Gallup.

Remember every family.

Remember every pastor and congregation faithfully serving this region.

Remember every person crying privately.

Remember those battling sickness.

Remember those fighting addiction.

Remember the forgotten.

Remember the discouraged.

Let hope rise again.

Let families be restored.

Let people come to salvation.

Let faith awaken.

Let old wells be reopened.

And where there has been dryness, let living water flow again.

I believe something is beginning to stir.

So I say again:

Watch Gallup.

Watch the surrounding region.

Watch what begins happening in families.

Watch the testimonies.

Watch the people who begin seeking God again.

Watch the wells.

Because what has been…

will not be what shall be.

Gallup, New Mexico… something is coming.
